*Industry night #8: Elastic Stasis

Elastic Stasis invites listeners into a state of suspended time, where sound and image unfold through stasis and microchange. Long stretches pass in near-stillness, and then the smallest variations—an overtone shift, the resonance of the room, a faint flicker of a line—suddenly feel monumental.

As fragile harmonics and subtle beats hover at the threshold of audibility, video projections of wires, tracks, and swaying lines appear and dissolve, interrupted by sculptural edges that fracture the field of vision. The audience is invited to attune to heightened detail, to notice decay and spatial resonance, and to experience listening and looking as ways of inhabiting the present moment together.

This piece is composed by Ann Adachi-Tasch, and will be performed by Melinda Rice (violin), Sylvia Winch (trombone), Ann (flute), and Aaron Igler (video composition and performance).
