About the event
Green Plum Ensemble Album Release Show // BBQ Blow-Out with Julius Masri + Inverse/Obverse + Permasquelch +
People’s Music Supply is thrilled to present a summer experimental music blow-out in celebration of the debut album release of our very own Green Plum Ensemble! The band’s new tape will be released on Sweet Wreath (legenary DIY label based out of the Birmingham, AL area!), and to celebrate we’re throwing a good ole fashion freak-music BBQ all evening long with an epic line-up of local homies from across the city. Music will take place in the back studio (air conditioned!) and back patio (vibey!) of Headlong Dance Theatre in South Philly while grillables, cold drinks + fresh fruit will be served outside, weather permitting. Grillin / chillin starts at 5:30 and music starts at 6pm sharp ! Vegan / veggie options will be available and donations are most welcome.
The evening will include music from…
- Green Plum Ensemble - Freestyle drone + lamentation for voices, clarinet and brass, mystifying Philadelphia audiences since 2019. New debut album ‘The Heavenly Music’ will be for sale on cassette at the show! This will be their last Philly show for a while so come catch this polarizing transendental shmorgasborg while you still can.
- Inverse + Obverse - Improv quartet led by Aaron Pond playing “creative music rooted in tenderness” for the unique combination of french horn, accordian, contrabass and percussion. feat. Matteo McDonnell, Bert Harris, and Max Glazier, respectively.
- Permasquelch - Immaculate mystical music from local shredder Emily Milano, solo on guitar/electronics. You may know Sara from Systolic Murmurs, Gtown Radio or your local organic farm!
- Julius Masri
