P.T.S.D.

An improvisation collective with Matthew Payroll Pony Bones and Steve Johnson at it's nougat center, PTSD is maximalist drone mindful of Tony Conrad and the Velvet Underground's voyages into choppier waters, a resplendent and ever-blooming wall of noise cracking from vines of silence digging into it. 2023's Triple Barrel Junction and 2024's forthcoming To Bury All Of the Ugly albums are long-form improvisations culled from even longer treks into the liminal, crepuscular space of eroding drone awareness.

Matthew Payroll Pony Bones - A veteran spirit of American experimental music acting a bridge over the river of time between the cacophony of modern life and wooly mountain wilds. Pony specializes in intuitive, tactile excursions by way of treated folk instruments, left out in the rain, shredding strings and the burden of histoy itself.

Steve Johnson - Stalwart advocate for sound, totally responsible for Baltimore's 20/20 Records and Tapes label, part-owner of the True Vine Record Shop, recording engineer, bass player and do-er of whatever else needs to be done. Steve's efforts are unencumbered by genre restrictions or ossified intentions.
